Kocen 2003 Summer Vacation
We had planned on going to Knoxville but changed our minds and decided to bypass Knoxville and spend the extra day doing the Biltmore Mansion in Asheville NC.

So on our way to the Great Smoky National Park we stopped at the Lost Sea
The Lost Sea is a simple cave with a lake at the bottom where they take you out on a boat. You start the tour in this tunnel
Don't we look so excited
Some really cool rock formations
More formations and our tour guide. She is pure Tennessee with really corny jokes
This is a sifter they used during the civil war. They used Bat guano to make gun powder
Just wait'n around
More cool rock formations. Taking pictures in the dark with a digital camera does not work to good but I was surprised that these actually came out, Belinda did a great job.
Next stop - Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The guy who originally owned the land gave it to the government with the stipulation that they never charge people to enter. So the admission was free but the map cost plenty.
The scenery is wonderful, you either see mountains or meadows and deer all over the place.
Just walking down a trail
One of the original area residents built this house before the civil war. The corners are dove tails which means it will never fall apart.
A little stream and an even smaller bridge
Another part of the housing complex. The houses are in great shape.
Meadows that seem so pleasant and beautiful
When you go to go, you got to go.

Ain't it nice to be a guy
Another house by past resident
The houses were small and the doorways even smaller. I assume this was done for two reasons, one was to keep the warmth inside the house and the second was it is hard to build these things by yourself
This is a cool house where they kept the milk and butter
OK, so I know where we are, this GPS can't be off that much. If we go left then right or is it right then left, the car should be just around the corner.

Of course if you just follow the trail it would be even easier
