We went to the Biltmore Estate. This was built by George Vanderbilt back in the 1800s. The place is huge, he wanted a self sustaining summer house. |
You can't take pictures inside so we only have out door ones. The inside is beautiful, we counted 3 staircases that were huge. The rooms have some great architecture and paintings. |
Walking around the grounds there are a lot of trellises with large grape vines and other types of vines on them providing a lot of shade |
From the side of the house. This area looks like a stage is being put together for one of the many concerts they hold here. |
The gardens are awesome. This one is surrounded by a wall and is called 'The Walled Garden'. |
More garden shots |
Standing in the sun. It started to get a little warm as we walked around. |
Grapes hanging down. They are just out of reach, of course. |
The entire place has trees which provided some good shade. |
I call this one 'Standing in front of flowers, sweating' |
Andrew was watching the bees as they flew around the flowers. |
Andrew and I were walking in front of Belinda and Michele and Belinda had us stop so she could take a picture |
So Belinda and I did the dueling camera thing |
Our walk took us down to the Bass Pond where they have Koi and catfish, I suspect there were bass in there at one time or another |
Posing for photos but never near each other. |
The pond ends in a waterfall, some people where playing in the water. |
I am bored and hungry |
Our last stop was the Whinery, sorry, Winery. It used to be a dairy but they changed over to grapes and wine a while back. |
More winery stuff |
The trellises are very nice, they did not provide a lot of shade but look nice. |
